Automobiles in German City Discovered Smeared with Swastikas in Blood, Law Enforcement Confirm

Incident location Affected vehicle Area Law Enforcement
Authorities stated they were contacted by a man who found a car in Hanau covered with reddish fluid

Around fifty automobiles have been covered with what seems to be human blood in the German municipality of Hanau near Frankfurt, as reported by police.

Automobiles, walls and mailboxes were marked, in some cases with Nazi symbols, they reported in a statement.

Officers report they were contacted in the late hours on Wednesday, when a man discovered that a car in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been covered with a reddish substance.

The substance had been drawn in the pattern of a banned symbol, they added.

Law enforcement then found many other smeared vehicles and building exteriors in the nearby vicinity.

Nazi symbols are banned in Germany under legislation outlawing the public display of Nazi symbols.

Officials report early analysis show the substance was likely human bodily fluid.

"Currently there is no indication as to its source; investigators are presently not aware of any injuries in relation with the occurrence," they commented.

Local authorities stated they were trying "to unravel the mystery" and have appealed to the public for details.

An important official said the incident made him speechless and required to be solved promptly.

"This act affects the center of Hanau and revives the pain of the far-right violent incident in 2020," he stated on online, recalling the murder of nine people by a shooter focusing on people of foreign heritage in five years prior.
